Boskalis orders vessel from Yantai
Dutch dredging services provider, Royal Boskalis Westminster NV, has contracted China’s Yantai Raffles Shipyard to build a 21,500 dwt offshore rock dumping fall pipe vessel valued at around $177 million.
The vessel, measuring 159 metres long and 32 metres wide, will be built to the American Bureau of Shipping class standard. When complete, the vessel is expected to be capable of working at considerably larger depths than other existing vessels in the same sector. Boskalis now owns two similar ships, the ?Sandpiper? and the ?Seahorse?, which are each equipped with 16,300 tonnes of capacity.
