Boustead Naval wins yacht jobs

The Malaysian shipbuilder Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS) has received orders to build a yacht-hotel and two luxury yachts. BNS said Sunborn International from Finland had ordered a 141m-long vessel to be used as a floating hotel at a cost of about RM250 million ($75 million). The order was won against strong competition from shipyards in Vietnam, South Korea and Poland which had also tendered for the project.

Delivery of the 5,609 gt and 186 room floating hotel is scheduled by end of next year when it will be docked in Barcelona. BNS is hoping to secure a tender to build another floating hotel for the same client which will be berthed in London. The new vessel is being built at the Lumut dockyard.

BNS is also close to signing a letter of intent with a foreign client to acquire two 74m-long luxury yachts. The price has not yet been finalised and it will be the first time the yard will be building such large yachts. These yachts would be built at the Wavesmasters dockyard in Langkawi.
