BP has new bunker location in Fremantle

BP Marine has opened its new, relocated bunkering operation in North Fremantle, following a multimillion dollar investment in its Western Australia facility.

BP has decided to continue its 80-year marine bunkering history at the port by relocating its marine fuels operation to a new home in North Fremantle after the long-term lease at its East Fremantle facility ended. This has provided an important boost to the North Fremantle terminal and has allowed the former site to be re-designated for residential development.

Throughout a 12-month renovation programme, BP Marine has maintained a seamless service for customers and is now ready to begin operations from its new base, which will continue to service the ports of Fremantle and Kwinana.

The new operation benefits from a direct pipeline fed from BP?s local Kwinana Refinery minimising on-site storage. It incorporates the latest in-line blending capability which means that virtually any blend of fuel oil can be supplied, from light fuels such as IF60 to the heavier blends IF380.

Vessels are supplied with fuel from quayside berths served by the extensive pipe network covering some 15Km. This provides an all weather facility where time-at-port can be minimised through faster, higher volume fuel delivery. Where portside service cannot be obtained, barge service is available to the outer harbour area at Fremantle and Kwinana ports.
