Brazil yard wins PSV
Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, Netherlands, and the Brazilian shipyard of Wilson Sons, have signed a contract and licence agreement for the construction of a Damen Platform Supply Vessel 7216. The 72 metre long vessel will be built by Wilson Sons at their shipyard in Guaruja (Santos), Brazil, with Damen providing engineering, construction drawings and a material package. The 3,100DWT vessel, to be operated by Wilson Sons, will enter into a charter contract with Petrobras and fully complies with their requirements.
Propulsion is based on a diesel-electric propulsion system, comprising four main generators, two electric motors and two 1,500kW CPP Azimuth Rudder Propellers.
Twin 600kW electric bow thrusters are provided with CPP. The newbuilding will enter into service during the second half of 2006.
