Business is focus of new conference
Opening Oceans Conference aims to bring together c-level executives interested in sustainable business operations below, on and above the ocean waves, to talk about key opportunities and potential collaborations. Delegates will also be provided with tools to tackle these opportunities.
Nor-Shipping’s Sofia Furstenberg, strategic lead for the conference, said: “According to the OECD, economic value creation from ocean activities will have doubled by 2030.
“At the same time traditional maritime players are under increased pressure, eyeing growth of just 1%* over the next five to ten years. However, to really unlock the potential of the ocean, businesses need to tap into the established skills, resources and infrastructure of commercial maritime.”
Conference themes will include energy production and access to minerals, changing logistic demands, food production, and capturing, collating and extracting value from ocean-related data.
Due to be held in Copenhagen from 2-3 May 2018, the event is Nor-Shipping’s first outside Norway and is supported by the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association and Danish Shipping.
