BV releases digital classification tool
Optimum Survey Planning (OSP) takes a proactive approach to survey planning, providing a recommendation of the most convenient date and place to perform the needed surveys, increasing efficiency and saving time and money.
Laurent Hentges, Bureau Veritas’s vice president of operational excellence, said, “‘This is not just about putting survey bookings online, this is about improving our services and making the classification experience easier with visibility, flexibility and control.”
The application is embedded within VeriStar Info, BV’s client portal, and is available on both desktop and mobile versions. Features include proactive notification of optimised survey times and locations, an optimised survey and audit scope proposal, visibility on the status of the request at any time and additional information on ports, including information on BV approved service suppliers.
Next steps as the tool evolves will include increased automation of the survey process, improvements in the survey process and the ability to establish a continuous survey framework allowing detailed, continual, remote monitoring.
Bureau Veritas is working with CLS, a subsidiary of the French Space Agency, to forecast the ship routes as an alternative to manual ship route booking by the client.
