B+V to sort out QM2 pod
Cunard?s Queen Mary 2 will be dry-docking at Blohm + Voss Repair yard in Hamburg on 6 May for routine maintenance work and to remove one of its four podded propulsors which sustained damaged when it came into contact with the side of the underwater channel upon departure from Fort Lauderdale on 17 January. The damaged pod is one of the non-azimuthing ones located on the port side of the ship and has since then been sailing on three pods which, although this has not compromised safety, has reduced her speed.
The QM2 will stay in dry-dock for a total of 68 hours for the removal of the pod and will return to Blohm+Voss in November to have the repaired propulsors reinstalled.
