Celsius sells Gotaverken

Sweden?s Celsius group has sold its wholly-owned Gothenburg repair yard Gotaverken Cityvarvet to the Damen Shipyards Group. “The sale is consistent with Celsius? policy for strategic consolidation,” a company statement advised, “and as result Gotaverken Cityvarvet gains a financially solid owner with a long term investment perspective.” Celsius? other commercial repair yard, Oresundsvarvet, was sold to Norway?s Fosen group earlier in the year.

The Gothenburg yard employs almost 130 people and was very busy in January and February, primarily with ferry work. Four ships were at the yard in early March; the high speed ferries SuperSeaCat One and Four for dock work and modifications, the 13,145g roro Stena Freighter for bow thruster repairs and the 3,340 dwt forest product roro Breant for various modifications. ESL?s bulk carrier Kontula and a DFDS car/passenger ferry were stemmed to arrive soon.
