China : Another first for Chinese yards

Hard on the heels of recent first-time orders for ropax ferries and VLCCs at Chinese yards, Dalian New Shipyard in China has won its first ever contract to build a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO for the Qinghuangdao Field in the Bohai Gulf will also be the largest FPSO constructed by a Chinese yard to date. The newbuilding is based a Suezmax hullform.
