Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in China recently launched a 300,000 DWT FPSO capable of loading or off-loading 190,000 barrels of crude oil a day. It was designed and built by the Shanghai based yard and is the largest and, at $240 million, the most expensive of its kind in China.

The vessel is 323 metres long and 63 metres wide, and can store 2 million barrels of crude oil. The owner of this newbuilding is ConocoPillips China Inc. who will put the FPSO into use in the second-phase project of the Penglai 19-3 Oilfield in China’s Bohai Bay, which is jointly funded and run by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and ConocoPillips China Inc.
