The shuttle tankers, of 75,000dwt, will be used in projects for China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). According to China Rongsheng CEO Chen Qiang, the group’s strategy is to provide services to China’s developing offshore energy industry, including shipbuilding as well as exploitation, storage and transportation of oil and gas. China Rongsheng Heavy Industries has already built a pipelaying vessel, capable of operation in 3,000m water depths and which was launched earlier in 2011 for CNOOC. The group is actively developing and bidding for projects involving complex vessels such as drilling rigs and LNG carriers.
