Chinese shipbuilders continue to expand

Xinhe Shipyard has won a contract from Tianjing Port for a 1,600m3/hour dredger for delivery in June 2006. The new vessel will be 95 metres long, 15.4m wide, a depth of 4m and a draught of 2.45m.

Huanghai Shipbuilding in Shandong secured an order to build a 600TEU multi purpose container ship for the German-based shipping company Intership Navigation. This shipyard recently completed the construction of a newbuilding berth measuring 340m long and 60m wide

Another German owner, Rickmers, placed a contract with Dalian for four 4,250TEU boxships. This brings the total number of similar sized container ships ordered by Rickmers from Dalian to 12.

Daishan city, in Zhejiang, plans to build a newbuilding and ship repair facility by attracting investment from Qingdao Shunho Shipping totalling $60 million. When completed in three years time, the yard will build ships up to 300,000DWT.
