Chinese shipbuilders win LNG and VLCC jobs –

Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding secured a contract for three LNG carriers from two domestic gas tanker operators. The 47,000 cbm newbuildings will be delivered on November 2008, July and October 2009. This latest order will bring the number of LNG carriers under construction at HZ to five.

CSSC won an order for two VLCCs from Nanjing Changjian Oil Transport. Particulars of the 297,000DWT VLCCs are 330m in length, 60m in breadth, 29.7m in depth and a service speed of 16.8 knots. Delivery dates and price have not been not revealed.
