Chinese yards win bulkers and boxships

Jiangsu Shipbuilding clinched four 4,250TEU container ships from Schlueter at a price per unit of around $59 million. They will be delivered during 2009.

Oltmann in Germany placed an order for four 4,250TEU container ships with Zhejiang at a total contract price of $240 million. Ship particulars are 265m in length, 32.25m in breadth and 19.3m in depth and will have a service speed of 24.5 knots.

Cosco placed an order for four 76,000DWT bulk carriers with Jiangnan Shipbuilding while Bohai Shipbuilding clinched a 2,500GT research vessel from a Chinese government body.
