Clean power converter

Vacon says that the new converter is the next step in ensuring that ship and port owners can meet the next level of energy efficiency required by new regulations.

Jari Marjo, Premium Drives, Vacon, said: “The Vacon NXP Grid Converter can easily be integrated into various applications in ports and ships to provide cleaner power, improved performance and cost savings.”

The converter has so far been successfully used in shore supply solutions enabling ships to switch off main power while at berth.

They have also been used in shaft generator systems which allow optimum control of propulsion machinery at various speeds and at the same time generate electricity for the ship.
