The Drew Marine Division of Ashland Specialty Chemical Company has developed a solvent-free air cooler cleaner that it says eliminates the hydrocarbon fumes, surface residues and sludge potential associated with the use of many conventional products. Called ACC/ME the product requires no mixing, and rinses completely, says Drew. It can be sprayed over the air cooler after reducing engine load. Air coolers equipped with a closed-loop circuit can be cleaned by circulating the cleaner, followed by a fresh water rinse, says Drew.
