Clipper Target delivered

?Clipper Target?, a bulk carrier for the Clipper Group of Bahamas, was recently launched at the Cochin Shipyard (CSL) in India together with a fire-fighting tug for the Jeddah Port Authority, Saudi Arabia and a platform supply vessel for Seatankers Management Group, Norway.

Based on the standard TRADER design from GTR Campbell, the new Clipper vessel is a 30,000 DWT double hulled handysize bulk carrier and is the lead-ship in a six-ship series placed by the Bahamas group. Delivery of the ?Clipper Target? will take place later this month and the yard has already started work on the second vessel in the series.

The platform supply vessel is part of an order for eight such vessels and the fire-fighting tug was part of an order for nine vessels.

The Shipyard plans to set up ancillary units to augment shipbuilding and improve the rate of production. Meanwhile, CSL has already commenced work on the aircraft carrier for the Indian Navy, the first one to be built indigenously. This prestigious project occupies the pride of place in the CSL order book, not only by its complexity and volume, but by its strategic importance in augmenting the strength of the Indian Navy.
