Coating and steel together

The Touchstone 3 is a combined ultrasonic and paint thickness gauge which can simultaneously measure and display the thickness of both steel and coatings using only the first back echo, says Class Instrumentation. This overcomes the problems associated with obtaining multiple echoes from pitted or heavily corroded reflecting surfaces, says the company. The individual coating and steel thicknesses are shown on a dual display.

Touchstone 3 has been granted Millennium Products status by the Design Council.
