Color Line to use dynamic trimming system
Ro-pax ferry SuperSpeed 2 operates a twice daily service between Larvik, Norway and Hirtshal, Denmark and has capacity for 1,900 passengers, 764 cars or 117 trucks. Color Line joins Eniram’s list of shipping companies implementing DTA as part of continuous improvement initiatives to reduce fuel consumption and minimise emissions.
As in 2011 this high-speed ro-pax vessel will be sailing on the same route and to the same timetable as in 2010, the operator will be able to compare fuel consumption improvements. Color Line says it believes that the DTA real-time display of actual and potential fuel saving as a result of longitudinal trim is an efficient way to minimise fuel and power needs for the voyage. If successful, it could be implemented on more vessels.
Color Line AS deploys a total of six ships on four routes between Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
