Compact sub-sea unit

A new compact motion sensor (CMS) has been launched by TSS. The sensor measures 16cm x 9cm and can measure dynamic pitch and roll to an accuracy of better than 0.25 deg and is depth rated to 3,000m, says the company. It is designed for surface and sub-sea applications, including use with shallow water multi-beam and single beam echo sounders, and is suitable for wave buoy requirements, says TSS. The unit can also be used for sub-sea vehicle attitude measurement and platform monitoring, the company adds.

The CMS uses the same operating platform as the company`s dynamic motion sensors. This includes the use of silicon gyros for measurement of heave, roll and pitch, and an option of an electromagnetic heading unit.

The CMS uses a single connection with standard RE232/422 software, selectable outputs for gyro and GPS integration,and can be vertically or horizontally mounted.
