Condition monitoring used for NOx data
With this in mind, it has introduced a portable system, known as EMDS, that provides measurements of NOx emissions in g/kWh, as specified in Annex VI of MARPOL, in what is claimed to be a user-friendly fashion. Measurements are obtained within a few minutes, using minimal equipment and without any intervention.
The full range of parameters indicated on the system for both main engine and generators is:
- Power
- Fuel Consumption
- Exhaust emissions
- Total and specific rates for CO, CO2 and O2 (SO2 optional)
- NOx emissions Protocol in accordance with Marpol Annex-VI.
In addition to the above, integrated diagnostic software can provide information about the condition of the engine, its cylinders and sub-systems, which can be used for fuel saving, planned maintenance, and control of replacement parts costs through recognition of problems at an early stage.
Sigma says that EMDS allows operators to optimise main engines and generators for maximum savings and compliance with emission limits. The system is certified by Germanischer Lloyd.
