Cruise ferries get Pilgrim bolts

Pilgrim International has announced an order for its hydraulic coupling bolts from propulsion specialist Lips.

Lips is to supply the propellers and shafting for two new 60,600g North Sea cruise ferries currently being built for P&O North Sea Ferries by Fincantieri in Italy, and scheduled to enter service in April and December 2001 on the Hull – Europort service.

Each vessel is twin screw with both propulsion shafts having three flanges, each requiring eight Pilgrim radial fit coupling bolts to transmit the drive torque. The bolts are reusable to minimise downtime and costs during maintenance or emergency repair docking, says Pilgrim.
