Cruise ship to Malta

The 34,250g cruise ship Crown Odyssey has been booked into Malta Drydocks for ten days of repair and refurbishment work starting April 25. This is the Maltese yard?s first cruise vessel project of the new Millennium.

Factors in the yard?s selection included its proven track record in cruise ship repairs, its project management capabilities, value for money, skill availability and the shipyard facilities, advised Gilbert Rutter, technical director of Shipmanagement Ltd, which handles technical management of the vessel. Malta won the contract in competition with yards from Portugal and Italy in particular.

Shipyard work will include inspection and overhaul of shafts, propellers, stabilisers and bow thrusters. The hull will be blasted and painted, and extensive pipework will be carried out.
