Autronica has won five contracts to deliver its new fire safety management system for several cruise ships and cruise ferries. Called AutroSafe, the system comprises a fire detection system combined with a colour-graphic indication and control system.

Linked, these two systems are able to detect all types of fires, indicate the status of the fire situation and monitor and control all actions to be taken, both automatically by the system and by giving instructions to crew members according to pre-determined safety procedures, says Autronica.

The ships, to be built at Hijos de Barreras, Astillerosde Puerto Real, Fincantieri, Cantieri Navali Italiani, Helenic Ship Yard, Fosen Mek Verksteder and Meyer are on order from Trasmeditterranea, Carnival Cruise Line, Strintzis Lines, Anek Line and Royal Caribbean International. The first ship is scheduled to be launched in September.
