Cummins power for new crewboat

Each engine delivers 1007kW (1350 bhp) at 1900 rpm to fixed pitch propellers through twin disc reduction gears giving the vessel a 24 knot speed and a top speed of 27 knots.

The 36m Swissco Cheetah designed by Incat Crowther, has capacity for 50 tonnes of cargo on its 94m after deck. Built to ABS class, accommodation is provided for ten crew members in six cabins and seating for up to 70 passengers. Forward doors in the deck cabin permits the option of transferring passengers from the bow.

Incat Crowther says that while this vessel is the first of its design built by Cheoy Lee, there is a continued strong relationship between the designer, builders and suppliers for future builds.

Singapore-based Sean Lynas, director, Cummins Engine Sales for North East and Southeast Asia said to The Motorship: “From the Gulf of Mexico to Asia, the Cummins 38-litre engines have gained a strong following in the crew boat market. With many boats, such as the Swissco Cheetah, being built in one country and operating in other countries, the Cummins global network of support facilities is an important consideration for the owner’s choice of our engines.”

Swissco Cheetah will now go into service in Singapore at the end of May. Its second sister vessel is due to be delivered later this year.
