Daehan gets nod for new shipyard

The South Korean shipbuilder Daehan Shipbuilding has won government approval for new shipbuilding facility in Haenam, nearby Mokpo where Hyundai Samho Shipyard is located.

Korean government has approved the use of 29.97 acres space for shipbuilding and Daehan will invest $52 million. Construction of the newbuilding facility will start in September this year and completed by the end of next year. In the longer term, Daehan Shipbuilding will be looking at developing a further 162 acres.
