Daewoo develops construction weighing system
Errors between the design weight expected by ship owners and the real weight after construction can now be measured exactly through a new weighing system. R&D Management Section of Daewoo Shipbuilding announced that a new weighing system for large-sized construction has been developed that can weigh structures up to 10,000 tonnes within a 0.5% margin of error.
This system was developed during the construction of BB Project for ShevronTexaco and had its first practice of weighing a module last month. The system is regarded as a remarkable innovation, because the maximum possible weight of this system is the world’s heaviest, and the system also complies with international standards.
D. H. Ka of R&D Management Section said, ‘This system is developed through a lot of experience and technical experiments. With the system, we can achieve higher value on operational technology as well as system equipment.
