Daewoo secures drillship and bulk carriers

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has obtained a combined $800 million worth of orders from two international customers. The South Korean shipbuilder said an unidentified US shipowner ordered an oil drill ship while a shipowner in Liberia ordered three bulk carriers.

The shipbuilder did not disclose detailed prices for the vessels, which will be delivered by June 2010. Including the latest deals, it has secured orders for 62 vessels worth $8.36 billion so far this year.
