Daewoo Shipbuilding operates CNC lathe

Daewoo Shipbuilding has just installed an extra-large CNC lathe at its machine fabrication shop to carry out final machining of 100-ton size shafts. The new lathe was designed to be controlled automatically by computer which contains all manufacturing data and will be able to machine a shaft of up to 2.5 meters in diameter, 15 meters in length and 100 tons in weight.

This lathe complements the machine used for rough machining of shafts that was acquired in 2001. The machinery outfitting team has expanded its capability and can now produce 150 sets of 100 ton shafts annually.
