DNV GL Maritime Battery Forum
DNV GL says the aim of the forum is to help realise the government’s ambition of green growth within the maritime sector and the vision of Norway as a world-leading nautical nation and attractive maritime host country.
This comes at a time when Electric and hybrid vessels are becoming more and more popular with the industry, due to their energy storage in large batteries which can provide significant reductions in fuel costs, maintenance and emissions.
DNV GL says the importance of cleaner energy in shipping makes the use of batteries increasingly vital.
A meeting was recently held at DNV GL’s head office to look at who intends to become a member of the Maritime Battery Forum. More than 80 managers from charterers, owners, yards and vendors, as well as representatives from Norwegian authorities, were enthusiastic about joining.
