Dockside hydraulic oil filling unit

A dockside filling unit for supplying hydraulic oil to vessels has been developed by Commercial Hydraulics Keelavite (CHV). The unit consists of two 61m hydraulically-powered hose reels on a mobile chassis. The unit`s diesel engine powers a gear pump, which is designed to draw fluid from barrels and pump it directly to the vessel`s storage tanks. A 10-micron suction filter and a three-micron pressure filter clean the oil as it is loaded.

The unit can pump up to 50 litres of hydraulic fluid per minute and an integral flow meter keeps check on the rate of flow and the total amount pumped, says CHV.

Each hose can pump different fluids at the same time, says the company, and the system can also be back flushed to prevent wastage and allow swapping between fluids.
