Donut distribution agreement

Global manufacturer of maritime and offshore safety solutions VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has signed a distribution agreement with UK based Donut Safety Systems Ltd.

– VIKING?s products are often the last means of rescue on board, and we are always on the lookout for ways to improve crew safety, says Global Sales Manager Jorgen Holm and continues:

– The Donut is a safety measure for unforeseen circumstances that suits our current range of high quality lifesaving appliances well. It?s already popular in the offshore market, but the advantages for commercial shipping are clear as it enables the last person onboard to evacuate directly from the ship into a throw-overboard liferaft in a quick and safe manner. It is also a very good alternative to evacuation ladders and knotted ropes, because it?s compact and has a lower risk of tearing immersion suits during descent, finishes Jorgen Holm.

Originally designed for high-rise buildings, the Donut is a simple, lightweight device designed as a tertiary means of escape from an offshore platform. It enables personnel to escape by means of individual controlled descent once the device has been attached to a handrail or other load bearing structure. It is easy to use and requires little physical effort.
