Double naming ceremony for E.R. Schiffahrt

The naming ceremony was held for another two large container ships for E.R. Schiffahrt at the Hyundai shipyard in Samho, South Korea. The two Super-Post-Panamax vessels each have a capacity of 8,204 teu and are the planned continuation of the newbuilding programme of the shipping line belonging to the Nordcapital Group. With the addition of the two new vessels ?E.R. Tokyo? and ?E.R. Texas?, E.R. Schiffahrt will operate a total fleet of 65 container ships with a capacity of about 300,000 teu. By early 2008, Hyundai will deliver a further 11 container ships to ER.

The ?E.R. Tokyo? will operate under the charter name ?CMA CGM Carmen? for the French shipping line CMA CGM in the North China Express Service (NCX) that links Northern Europe with China. The ?E.R. Texas? will also operate under charter for CMA CGM, first under sub-charter as ?MSC Bengal? for the Swiss shipping line MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company.

The two newbuildings are the seventh and eighth in a series of newbuildings comprising a total of nine units of that size. All vessels have been chartered to leading shipping lines on a long-time basis, three of them to Cosco Container Lines and six to CMA CGM.
