Dutch dredger to be built in Croatia

Under the plan, the ship is to be delivered in April 2016, Uljanik said in a filing to the Zagreb stock exchange (ZSE). The shipyard will fit the vessel with a combined engine capacity of 23,684 kW.

The amount of the latest contract was not disclosed by the companies. The shipbuilder has a further six vessels in its order book which are scheduled for delivery in 2014.

Set up in 1856 and based in Pula, Uljanik operates two shipyards located in Pula and Rijeka, on the Croatian Adriatic Sea shore. The contract will be performed by its shipyard in Pula which has delivered bulk carriers, trailing suction hopper dredgers, oil and chemical tankers, wagon carriers and many other vessels to both domestic and foreign-based clients. Uljanik has a combined workforce of 4,321 at the two facilities, according to figures released by the shipbuilder.

IHC Global Production is based in Kinderdijk, the Netherlands. The firm manages the production, commissioning and turnkey delivery of dredging and offshore vessels.
