Eidesvik exercises option

Eidesvik Offshore ASA has exercised its right with Westcon shipbuilder in ?lensvåg, Norway, to build its third platform supply vessel (PSV) type VS 493 LNG-AVANT. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 325 mill and delivery is slated for 2nd quarter of 2008.

This will be the third natural gas fuelled PSV for Eidesvik Offshore ASA and confirms the company?s initiative and responsibility to meet the future demands for reduction in emission on the Norwegian continental shelf. Environmental gains are NOx by 89%, i.e. 160 tonnes per year. CO2 emission is also reduced by 23% compared to operation on marine diesel.

Eidesvik Offshore ASA will also prepare this vessel for testing of fuel cell technology.
