Elcome opens electronics calibration and repair facility
Operated by Navicom Calibration LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elcome, the facilities will provide a full range of calibration and certification services for critical portable instruments and fixed systems.
“The creation of a calibration services and component-level electronics repair subsidiary is a natural expansion of our rapidly growing business,” said Jimmy Grewal, executive director of Elcome International.
He added: “It is the next logical step in building our company into a global technology company providing a wide range of engineering, system integration, manufacturing, testing, repairs and service solutions, not only in the maritime industry but other industrial sectors as well.”
The operation is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by the Dubai Accreditation Centre and the quality management systems are certified by DNV GL to ISO 9001:2008.
It is staffed by engineers and technicians with combined professional experience of more than 60 years in calibration and support.
At SMM in Hamburg earlier this year, Elcome also announced that it had been appointed by Informa PLC as an official representative for Lloyd’s List Intelligence products and services.
Under the agreement, Elcome is responsible for marketing and sales on behalf of Lloyd’s List Intelligence in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
As well as previously announcing that it is supplying electrical switchboards, safety, monitoring and control systems for three vessels under construction at Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB).
Mr Grewal concluded: “These orders from ADSB represent a significant achievement in our growth as a major supplier for newbuilds as well as retrofits, and showcases our engineering and manufacturing capabilities.”
“We completed the production and factory acceptance tests (FAT) of the electrical systems in just 43 business days.”
