Electrical systems for new heavy lift vessels
The vessels are currently being built by Poland’s Gronigen yard Shipkits, part of the Centraal Steel group for the Daniel Hartman shipping company in Uruk.
Each vessel will have a deadweight of 4,200 tonnes and be equipped with two 150 tonne cranes and they will measure in at 111.60m with a beam of 16.8m. They’ll also be relatively quick for this type of vessel with a top speed of around 17 knots. The hulls will then be transported to the Port of Urk for outfitting this month.
This order follows on the back an earlier deal to supply electrics to another shipping company in Urk run by Daniel Hartman’s brother. One of the vessels was the recently launched Oceanic, which is the first in a series of three new vessels in the Hartman M2 Runner series, consisting of general and heavy cargo vessels with open top notation.
The 92.9m 3,500 dwt Oceanic is able to transport twice the amount of wind turbine parts than most 3,000 tonne vessels, Piet Brouwer says.
The second in the M2 Runner series, the Nordic, is currently being finished in the Port of Urk and the third, the Arctic, is expected to arrive in September 2013.
