Electrical upgrades for wind ship

Alewijnse was responsible for the recent electrical work on ‘MPI Resolution’

Alewijnse’s role in the maintenance project involved work on the vessel’s electrical systems including the alternators were overhauled in a special workshop in the Netherlands. The reconditioning service includes the electric isolation of the units, their disconnection and reconnection, and their transport from and to the shipyard. The schedule demanded that the team of service engineers complete the work within a five-week time frame. Alewijnse pointed out that it has recently undertaken a number of similar maintenance projects at Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen, where Alewijnse has a permanent service and maintenance facility.

MPI Resolution (formerly TIV Mayflower Resolution) was the first self-elevating turbine installation vessel, with the capability of hydraulically raising the hull on six hydraulic legs to between 3m and 46m above the surface of the sea to provide a stable platform when undertaking installations. The vessel can carry and install up to 10 turbines at a time. MPI Resolution was designed for use in the North Sea, although she can be deployed elsewhere if required. Owner MPI Offshore is part of the Vroon group.
