Eletson orders MR product tankers

The Greek shipping company Eletson has signed a newbuilding contract with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea for the construction of four 52,000 dwt hi-spec medium range product tankers. The vessels are scheduled for delivery during the second half of 2009 and the first quarter of 2010. The contract includes an option for two similar vessels. Commercial terms were not disclosed.

Eletson is actively looking for further growth opportunities to enhance its market leading position. The company owns and operates one of the world’s largest fleets of medium and long range product tankers which currently consist of 25 double hull vessels with a combined capacity of 1,630,533 dwt.
