Emissions : Cleaner gensets
Alaska Diesel has introduced a soot trap and regeneration system (Stars) which can be fitted on any diesel engine up to around 200kW (268 bhp) output or 10 litres capacity.
The unit requires no maintenance and is said to reduce carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in addition to being a soot trap.
Stars is said to keep the generator at its optimal operating temperature resulting in significantly lengthened TBOs. At low loads if the temperature of the catalyst drops too low, an electrical heating system is automatically activated which warms the monolith and increases the load on the engine to help avoid the low-load condition.
