EPIC contract confirmed

Odense Steel Shipyard in Denmark has confirmed it has entered a final contract with the UK-based EPIC Shipping Group for building and delivery of six Ro-Ro vessels.

The vessels are 193 meters long, 26 meters wide and have approximately 3,700 lane meters. The 11,000 DWT vessels will be able to transport around 250 trailers and will be delivered in 2009 and 2010.

The construction of the vessels will employ about 600 people in average in the period from 2008 and until the delivery of the last vessel in 2010.

“We are pleased with this order from an external buyer, partly because it shows that the shipyard is competitive in the Ro-Ro segment, and partly because the vessels ? with start of production in the summer 2008 ? fits well in the planning of the shipyard. We look forward to delivering six good vessels to EPIC Shipping” says CFO Peter Jann Nielsen.
