Exotic metal tubes
The Elfin process, developed by Britannia Heat Transfer, enables heat exchanger tubes to be manufactured cost-effectively from a wide range of exotic metals, including titanium, zirconium, hastelloy and stainless steel, says the company. Elfin is also available in multi-tube block matrix configurations, known as ElfinBlock. The Elfin process precision swages the fin onto the tube, unlike other designs where tubes are bulleted or expanded into the fins, says Britannia.
A linear motor feed, which is CNC controlled and is accurate to within 10 microns, is used to manufacture ElfinBlock, and can drastically reduce lead times, says the company. Production rates of between five and 200 linear metres per hour are available. Contact: Britannia Heat Transfer. Fax: +44 1674 467675.
