First Environship handed over

The 74.7m long ship will be used to service fish farms, delivering feed pellets to various locations around the Norwegian coast.

A saving in carbon emissions of some 40% compared with conventional diesel-fuelled ships is claimed, the main contributor to which is the use of a Bergen LNG-fuelled main engine. Other energy-saving features include a Promas integrated propeller, nozzle and rudder, a hybrid shaft generator, and a low-resistance hull form developed for efficiency in both calm waters and the heavy seas experienced in the ship’s operating area.

Rune Ekornesvåg, Rolls-Royce sales manager for merchant vessels said: “We are very excited to see this state-of-the art technology and advanced ship design take to the seas for the first time.
