First ISO 9002 yard in Batam

Labroy Shipbuilding & Engineering has been awarded ISO 9002 accreditation by ABS. It is the first shipyard in Batam, Indonesia to receive this certification.

Labroy repaired a record number of non-group vessels in 1999, having commissioned its 30,000 dwt capacity floating dock Venture Dock 2 in January. A total of 204 vessels underwent repairs at the yard during the year; 93 from within the Labroy group and 111 from other owners. These included 26 tankers, 38 bulk/general cargo/container ships, 71 offshore vessels/tugs and 69 barges/hoppers.

Ocean Tankers? 32,239 dwt tanker Ocean Opal, which docked at Labroy at the end of 1999, is said to be the largest vessel docked by a Batam yard to date.
