Flensburger yard launches last BC ferry
The last in a three-ship order for double-ended ferries for Canadian ferry operator British Columbia Ferry Services (BC Ferries) was recently launched at Flensburger shipyard and delivery is planned for May 2008.
BC Ferries owns approx. 35 ferries which are operating on 28 different routes on the Pacific coast of Canada. The three new “Coastal-class” class ferries will operate on various routes on the coast of British Columbia.
Earlier this year in October the first double-end ferry, called “Coastal Renaissance”, left Flensburg and started her transfer voyage across the Atlantic and through the Panama-Canal and will arrive today in Vancouver. The second vessel, “Coastal Inspiration” will leave Flensburg end of January 2008 for Canada.
