Four Damen PSVs for WWS

All four vessels will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati, Romania, with the first delivery scheduled for early 2013, and the last delivery end of 2013. The PSV 3300 CD was launched in November and is the result of the Dutch shipbuilding group’s design and research process for a new type of offshore supplier: described as “a real workhorse with good seakeeping qualities, less need for maintenance and reduced emission levels”. The vessels are built according to high environmental and safety standards and with an eye for crew comfort.

The 80m long vessel has a 720 m² main deck area, improved speed performance with the same engine size compared to her predecessors, and incorporates proven elements of Damen’s other PSV series. Damen says that an eye-catching design, with a sleek bow makes the PSV 3300 CD a distinctive vessel. Damen benefited from design input from its Norwegian client WWS and from operational studies carried out on Damen PSVs operating in the North Sea and in Brazilian waters. The result is said to be a vessel with very little slamming, and improved comfort and safety for the crew, vessel and cargo.

The PSVs are designed and built according to Damen’s E3 principles: environmentally friendly, efficient in operation and economically viable. This influences the hull shape, coatings, the location of oil tanks, refrigerants, recovery of waste heat and engine emissions. The PSV 3300 CD fulfills Clean Design requirements and environmental protection standards of the major classification societies.
