FPSO uses deep DP

Importer

Seillean FPSO, operating at 1,853m on the Roncador field, Brazil, uses an Alstom triple voting dynamic positioning system and is the first continuous dynamically positioned FPSO to operate in waters of this depth, says the company. The vessel, built at Harland & Wolff in Belfast in 1989, was fitted with an Alstom duplex dynamic positioning system and diesel electric propulsion. Alstom upgraded the vessel last year with the installation of a DPS903 triple voting dynamic positioning system.

This system is able to maintain station by dynamic positioning in depths of up to 2,000m, and comprises a three-unit suite, each one capable of controlling the vessel independently, says Alstrom.
