Functional integration for IBS and control

Rolls-Royce and Furuno are developing an integrated bridge system in which Furuno hardware is functionally integrated with Rolls-Royce?s automation and control products.

“The goal is to provide customers with more synergies in the information they see on screen so that it will be more transportable,” explains Rick Kane, president ? marine electrical systems, Rolls-Royce. This will, for example, involve the sharing of screens for viewing data.

The product development work is ongoing and is expected to result in a prototype installation on a Norwegian supply ship in the first half of next year. The development has involved the formalisation of an informal cooperation agreement that the two companies have held for a number of years.
