Gaz de France and NYK confirm LNG order

NYK and NYK Armateur, a subsidiary of Gaz de France (GdF), have signed a contract with Chantiers de l?Atlantique for the construction of a 153,500 cubic metre LNG carrier. This vessel will be jointly owned by NYK (60%) and NYK Armateur (40%) and will be chartered to GdF for 20 years.

The newbuilding will be identical to the one ordered last year by GdF from the same French shipyard and will be fitted with the GT membrane gas containment system and a diesel/natural gas electric power plant. Delivery is scheduled for end 2006
