Gazprom visits Murmansk shipyard
Representatives of the Sevmorneftegaz company, a subsidiary of the Russian gas major Gazprom, recently visited the Nerpa shipyard in Murmansk Oblast to discuss the shipbuilder???s possible role in the development of the Shtokman field in the Barents Sea.
On the agenda was the shipyard???s existing and potential capability in the development of hydrocarbon resources on the Artic shelf in addition to plans for the production of modules for land-based oil and gas fields. The state-owned Nerpa shipyard, located in the town of Snezhnogorsk on the western side of the Kola Bay, has during the last couple of years been involved with the decommissioning of nuclear-powered submarines.
